Optical Technologies Research 2008
The Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg foundation has announced an “Optical Technologies Research 2008” call.
The foundation regards optical technologies as key technologies for Baden-Württemberg’s future. This field of technology is already well positioned in Baden-Württemberg and is therefore looking to strengthen and expand its current position.
The major focus of the planned research initiative is precompetitive and application-oriented basic and initial research. It is the long-term objective of the foundation to support top level research that is oriented towards strategic markets. Support will be given to research projects in the fields of optical technologies and with a high degree of innovation.
The current call consists of the following major areas: label-free optical diagnostics methods and photonic manufacturing methods and process monitoring systems.
Universities and non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg, preferentially cooperative and joint research initiatives in the field of science, are eligible for funding. The Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg has set aside 4 million euros for the funding of optical technologies. The projects should be limited to a period of three years.
Proposals, written in German and signed by the project coordinator, have to be submitted to the Photonics BW project management organisation before the 30th May 2008. Electronic submissions are not acceptable.
