Hartmann acquires surgical set business in Australia

The Heidenheim-based Hartmann Group has acquired the surgical set business of globally active Unomedical in Australia. The acquisition reinforces Hartmann’s presence in Australia and New Zealand. Financial information on the acquisition, which will come into effect on April 30th 2010, was not disclosed.

With this acquisition, the Hartmann Group hopes to strengthen its Australian hospital business, thus expanding its presence on the continent in addition to its incontinence and wound care business. Hartmann will acquire the Unomedical production facilities in Mona Vale, a suburb of Sydney in southeast Australia, including 43 employees as well as customer relations and inventory.

According to information released by Hartmann, the company has been present in Australia since 2002 with a subsidiary that has hitherto focused on its incontinence and wound care business. Unomedical is a global manufacturer of disposable medical products. The company has been active in Australia since 1977 where it focuses exclusively on the surgical set business. Unomedical has been part of the medical device company ConvaTec since 2008.
