Three cluster regions with a common goal

At MEDTEC Europe 2012, the leading medical platform in Europe held in Stuttgart from 13th to 15th March 2012, the three life sciences organisations BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH, Health Technology Cluster – Clusterland Oberösterreich GmbH and Human.technology Styria GmbH signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MoU”) to seal their future cooperation.

“With the signing of the memorandum, the three organisations reinforced their common goal of establishing a transregional strategic partnership and thus contribute to efforts being made by the regions’ companies and scientific institutions to intensify existing cooperation,” said the signatories, Dr. Ralf Kindervater (CEO BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH), Philipp Wittmann (Project Manager Health Technology Cluster – Clusterland Oberösterreich GmbH) and Dr. Robert Gfrerer (Managing Director Human.technology Styria GmbH) in a joint statement.

The partners believe that cooperation between companies and scientific institutions in the field of medical technology, pharmacy and biotechnology will lead to promising results. The partnering organisations intend to intensify the exchange of information, collaborative scientific projects (e.g. EU-funded projects) and cooperation between companies in the qualification and further training of employees.

Transregional cooperation

Dr. Ralf Kindervater, CEO BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH, came with a concrete invitation: “We would like to invite all interested companies and research groups to get involved in exciting projects, or alternatively, suggest their own themes and develop new collaborative projects. In future, research and development will be international although it will remain anchored in innovative regional locations. In order to be successful in an era of pan-European competition, it is crucial that the crème de la crème in Europe join forces. And what the new transregional partnership does is turn this idea into reality.”

In order to directly promote the exchange of information and discussion of different experiences between the Austrian and Baden-Württemberg companies, the first joint meeting took place on Wednesday evening (14th March) where the participants were able to make new contacts in an informal atmosphere.
