Insights into the diverse work of researchers at the NMI
The NMI is turning 40 years old and we are celebrating with an open day. On Friday, September 19, 2025 from 1pm until 5pm, there will be guided tours, information stands and other activities to give you an insight into the work of researchers at the institute. Food and drink will also be provided.
What exactly is electrospinning? How can organs be grown on a chip? And how, pray tell, can you measure electrical impulses in a cell? During the guided tours, you can take a look inside the laboratories and at devices.
The guided tours (start every hour):
- Organ chips: How it works and why animals are happy about it
- Little helpers: how do we find antibodies and enzymes?
- Small cells, big voltage - on the trail of electricity in our bodies
- Infection or vaccination: how the immune system reacts to viruses
- So tiny, so crucial - a journey into the inner workings of technology
- The path to MEA: from cleanroom to final inspection
- When research pulls strings - electrospinning and its biomedical application
Information stands
Further insights can be gained at the information stands of the working groups and projects, including diaper recycling, novel tissue models, protein analysis using nanopores and many other exciting topics. The three start-ups at the NMI, Signatope GmbH, immuneAdvice GmbH and candidum GmbH, will also be presenting themselves.
Visit us and find out what NMI employees are researching - between medicine, medical technology, high-precision analytics and completely new fields. Always with the aim of transferring research and development into application.
