4eu+: new round of calls for seed4eu+ and visiting professorships
The two inter-university funding programs SEED4EU+ and 4EU+ Visiting Professorships are entering a new round of calls. With these programs, the 4EU+ European University Alliance pursues the goal of strengthening links between the eight partner universities, giving scope to new ideas and supporting inter-university projects. That way students, teachers and researchers are to be connected even more closely in the context of a comprehensive and research-intensive European University. The two formats are advertised for the first time in the funding lines “Early Career” for junior researchers and “Standard” for experienced academics. Information sessions on the calls are taking place on 30 June 2026 online. The closing date for applications in both cases is 13 October 2026.
With the inter-university funding program SEED4EU+, the 4EU+ European University Alliance aims to support inter-university projects and give scope to innovative ideas. The fourth round of calls focuses on joint research activities. Eligible to apply are researchers with a doctoral degree desiring to implement creative projects across universities, at a minimum of three 4EU+ locations. The planned projects are meant to relate to the theme of at least one of the four Alliance Flagships. The maximum amount of finance per project is 40,000 euros in both funding lines.
4EU+ Visiting Professorships aim to develop new approaches in research and teaching, and to generate new knowledge. The visiting professorships are intended for researchers from all eight partner universities wishing to carry out joint activities in research and teaching with their teams at the respective host university. That includes setting up 4EU+ research teams, organizing conferences or seminars, taking on teaching responsibilities and developing new teaching formats, as well as communicating the results to society. The visiting professorships are planned to last from three to six weeks and can be completed in several intervals throughout an academic year.
Eligible in the “Early Career” funding lines are, in both programs, researchers whose doctorate was obtained at least two and at most 10 years prior to the start of funding. Those interested can find out about the calls in an online information session on 30 June. Briefing on the SEED4EU+ call begins at 12 noon, and on 4EU+ Visiting Professorships at 1pm. At Heidelberg University, the 4EU+ Office is ready to answer questions about the two funding programs.
The 4EU+ European University Alliance brings together the eight universities of Prague, Heidelberg, Paris-Panthéon-Assas, Sorbonne in Paris, Copenhagen, Geneva, Milan and Warsaw. The group is one of the university alliances funded in the context of the European Universities Erasmus+ call. By supporting strategic higher education partnerships and building up an integrated university system, the European Commission pursues the goal of clustering research, teaching and innovation in Europe in new structures, and thereby modernizing and strengthening the European Education Area.
