The newly established Collaborative Research Centre 1784, “InTraC”, is coordinated at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. The consortium investigates how inflammatory processes and blood coagulation interact. Both processes play a central role in cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke. The aim of the consortium is to gain a better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms and to develop new therapeutic approaches.
In addition, two existing Collaborative Research Centres with participation from DZHK sites are being further funded:
- Collaborative Research Centre “Damage Control by the Stromal–Vascular Compartment”
(Goethe University Frankfurt, speaker: Professor Ralf P. Brandes) - Collaborative Research Centre “Molecular Circuits of Heart Disease”
(University of Heidelberg, speaker: Professor Johannes Backs)
In mid-May, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced 13 new Collaborative Research Centres nationwide, as well as the continuation of funding for numerous existing consortia.
