CardioBridge was founded in Hechingen in 2004, based on the takeover of patents and systems related to the Reitan catheter pump, a left ventricular cardiac support catheter for the minimally-invasive treatment of heart attacks. Pre-clinical trials confirm the pump's excellent performance and haemodynamic properties. The company is currently looking for external investors to help it obtain CE certification, thereby enabling it to market the pump in Europe and countries outside the USA and Japan. The pump's inventor, Dr. Oyvind Reitan, collaborates on CardioBridge's clinical and developmental activities.
