Research association - 24/07/2024 SPI-MP: pioneer in personalised medical technology Every person is unique – even when they are ill. This is why many approaches to personalised medicine have been under development. The Stuttgart Partnership Initiative - Mass Personalization (SPI-MP), which focuses on basic research into fabrication and biomaterial technologies for personalised biomedical systems, is at the heart of such research work. The projects range from artificial knee joint cartilage to state-of-the-art stroke diagnostics.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/news/spi-mp-pioneer-personalised-medical-technology
Press release - 05/07/2024 Outstanding ideas – new imaging processes for cancer diagnostics and nanopropellers for ocular gene therapy The summer reception hosted by BioRegio STERN Management GmbH has once again provided a fitting backdrop for the Science2Start award ceremony. Last Thursday, at Tübingen observatory, was the 15th time that scientists and start-up founders were celebrated for outstanding ideas that a panel of experts judged to have special economic potential.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/press-release/outstanding-ideas-new-imaging-processes-cancer-diagnostics-and-nanopropellers-ocular-gene-therapy
Press release - 02/10/2023 Distributed artificial intelligence to improve patient care in the operating room A research team of scientists from the Fraunhofer IPA, the Bosch Digital Innovation Hub at Bosch Health Campus and the Institute of Image-Guided Surgery (IHU) of Strasbourg has jointly launched the DAIOR project. Within the framework of the project, the project partners are working on realizing the operating room of the future with help of artificial intelligence and robot assisted telemedicine. https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/press-release/distributed-artificial-intelligence-improve-patient-care-operating-room
Press release - 17/11/2022 MEDICA and COMPAMED present themselves as extremely vital platforms in turbulent times MEDICA and COMPAMED continue to develop in an extremely vital manner. The world's leading medical trade fair and the international No. 1 for the medical technology supply sector once again impressively underscored their positive results from the previous year with strong numbers – despite continuing adverse conditions. A significant increase in bookings on the part of the exhibiting companies was followed after four days by a marked increase…https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/press-release/medica-und-compamed-praesentieren-sich-als-aeusserst-vitale-plattformen-bewegten-zeiten
Press release - 06/09/2022 Biointelligent sensor for measuring viral activity Today, genome editing is almost as easy as programming software. However, the generation of viral vectors as initial material is still associated with many expensive and error-prone handling procedures. Viruses are generated via complex biological processes that have to be optimised virus-specifically in order to produce high-quality therapeutics. A new method is needed that simplifies and optimises these processes.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/press-release/Biointelligent-sensor-for-measuring-viral-activity
Hearing loss - 29/06/2022 Innovative micro loudspeaker brings back hearing Hearing loss often severely restricts the lives of those affected and can only be partially reversed with conventional hearing aids. The innovative hearing aid developed by Vibrosonic GmbH from Mannheim transmits sound vibrations directly to the eardrum and can thus almost completely restore the natural hearing experience.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/news/innovative-micro-loudspeaker-brings-back-hearing
Robot arm for greater accuracy - 08/06/2022 guidoo: robotic assistance for fast and precise biopsies Needle-based procedures through the skin, such as biopsies of internal organs, not only require a great deal of skill and experience, but they also take time. Fraunhofer IPA Mannheim, together with BEC GmbH from Pfullingen, is developing a robotic surgical assistance system that supports the correct positioning and angulation of a needle with the help of a guide sleeve. This significantly speeds up the procedure while maintaining precision.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/news/guidoo-robotic-assistance-fast-and-precise-biopsies
SolidCAR-T project - 15/03/2022 Modular ‘mini-factories’ for decentralised production of CAR T cells Novel CAR T-cell therapies have proved to be promising therapeutic options for the treatment of acute leukaemias and lymphomas. Researchers from the Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart, the University Hospital Tübingen and the NMI in Reutlingen have joined forces in the SolidCAR-T project that aims to generate CAR T cells to combat solid tumours and produce these cells directly on site in the clinic using automated 'mini-factories'.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/news/modular-mini-factories-decentralised-production-car-t-cells
Press release - 03/02/2022 The 5G-OR Project is a Winner of the joint Franco-German Program for the Development of innovative Applications for 5G private Networks 5G-OR is one of the 4 winning projects jointly selected by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action in Germany and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Relaunch in France for the call “Technical developments and application ecosystems for 5G private networks”. The joint Franco-German 5G-OR project takes up the challenge in the healthcare domain.https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/press-release/5g-or-project-winner-joint-franco-german-program-development-innovative-applications-5g-private-networks
Press release - 01/02/2021 Targeting a rapid market breakthrough for new vaccine production method In a so-called inactivated or killed vaccine, the virus particles it contains are first rendered inactive by means of the toxic chemical formaldehyde. A better way of achieving this, however, is to irradiate the pathogens with low-energy electrons. Four Fraunhofer Institutes have now developed a new method of vaccine production based on this technique that is not only quicker but also guarantees a higher quality of product. https://www.gesundheitsindustrie-bw.de/en/article/press-release/targeting-rapid-market-breakthrough-new-vaccine-production-method
